Wine Connoisseurs are Turning to DIY Wine Storage Racks

Wine Storage Racks Video

Wine lovers know how important wine storage is.  Building up a collection of wine is a source of pride for those who know their vino, and you need somewhere safe to keep all of those bottles.  If you aren’t lucky enough to have a wine cellar in your house, you’ll need to come up with other accommodations for the precious liquid.

There are several options available to you at the time that you start building wine storage racks including using modular systems that can save you the bother of doing everything from scratch. In fact, using modular systems has a lot of advantage in case you want to store the wine racks in a cellar since they don’t require using anchors and so can be placed wherever you want them to be placed.

One of the most popular types of wine storage device is the countertop wine rack.  These hold anywhere from three to 15 or so bottles and take up very little room while providing an impressive display for your visitors.  They come in many different styles and colors, so finding one that matches your décor should be no problem.

However, some people would much rather prefer to dispense with using modular systems and would in fact, be much happier building wine storage racks from bottom up and the main attraction to this option is that it allows for greater customization of the wine rack than is the case with modularly constructed wine racks. However, the secret to proper building wine storage racks from the bottom up is ensuring that you make the wine rack in such a way that it allows for easy and horizontal storage of the wine bottles. The reason why you must store the wine bottles horizontally is that it is easier to identify individual bottles because the labels are easily visible and you don’t have to lift up the bottles to see which wine is stored in the bottle.

Having set your mind on building a wine storage rack, you need to then measure up the dimensions which must allow for storing bottles of even seven inch width and in a secure manner and, in addition, if you wish to store larger champagne bottles, then you need to allow for even wider bottles.

The best part about building a wine rack system is that you can choose the right kind of wood that will match well with your décor and there are also different wood finishes that you can choose including stained or natural finish. Of course, choosing mahogany wood will make your wine rack stand out and at the same time it will also ensure that wine rack is strong enough to safely hold quite a few wine bottles.

If you have more resources and the desire to have a really impressive DIY wine storage space, there are building plans available online for building your very own wine cellar.  There are both stand-alone models and those that require being built into the walls of a room.  This can be a great project for the handy wine lover since you can decide exactly where everything goes and how it all looks.

There are plenty of other DIY wine rack projects out there – a simple internet search will turn up tons of ideas that you can use and expand on.  This is a great way to personalize your wine experience and make sure that every bottle reminds you of the hard work you have put into your very own DIY wine storage space.
